Legislation and Regulations promulgated in terms of The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ensures that, when giving us your Personal Information, we are to abide by strict conditions. To this end, we have drafted this Privacy Policy.

Affinity Consumer Data (“we”, “us” or “our”), collects information that we have been entrusted with. To show our commitment and dedication to protecting your right to privacy we have adopted this Privacy Policy. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to ensure that we have the stringent processes in place to collect, process and share your personal information in a manner that is ethical and compliant.

INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT

  • Personal information that includes your name, date of birth or business entity name;
  • Contact information including email address, telephone number, etc.;
  • Demographic information such as address, location, preferences and interests;
  • Other information relevant to customer surveys and/or offers.

WHAT WE DO WITH THE INFORMATION WE GATHER

SPECIAL PERSONAL INFORMATION: CHILDREN IN PARTICULAR

Special personal information is sensitive personal information of yours and Affinity Consumer Data acknowledges that it will generally not process special personal information unless:

  • processing is carried out in accordance with your consent;
  • processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of a right or obligation in law;
  • processing is necessary to comply with an obligation ofinternational public law;
  • processing is for historical, statistical or research purposes,subject to safeguards;
  • information has deliberately been made public by the DataSubject; or
  • specific authorisation applies in terms of PAIA and POPIA.

Affinity Consumer Data will not process any personal information concerning a child except with the consent of the parent or guardian of that child, or where it is permitted to do so by law.

RETENTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Affinity Consumer Data may keep records of the Personal Information,correspondence, or comments it has collected in an electronic or hard copy file format.
  • In terms of POPI, Affinity Consumer Data may not retain Personal Information for a period longer than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected or processed, and is required to delete, destroy (in such a way that it cannot be reconstructed) or de-identify the information as soon as is reasonably practicable once the purpose has been achieved.
  • We will retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which that Personal Information was collected, and/or as permitted or required to permit us to perform our responsibilitiesand purposes, and/or by applicable law.

POPI, read with the relevant provisions of PAIA, confers certain access rights regarding your information and/or in relation to information that is held in respect of you.
